The University of California, Riverside has developed a new type of self-healing material that is conductive of electricity highly elastic (almost 50 times), and almost entirely transparent, inspired by Marvel's Wolverine character.
Wear and tear causes a lot of products to be thrown out, adding to landfill and withdrawing valuable matrials from use.
By working on the ion-dipole interaction between the materials so they could push the material from the molecular levels to bond.
The product is not only self-healing, it also strechtes, can conduct elevtricity and is transparent
Getting the matreial to work in all kind of different conditions
Creating self-repairing material seems like something from a sci-fi movie plot. Yet the material developed can stretch up to 50 times its usual size and, after being torn in two, it automatically stitched itself back together completely within one day. Having achieved the functional knowledge of a polymer that can repair itself is a groundbreaking invention. It could be applied to numerous functions and products.
